what's for dinner

i have amazing friends.

i've known kenny since kindergarden.

yesterday he brought me over a case of indian spices,

rice, fresh vegetables & his cook books.

he cooked for me, showing me how to make this food for myself.

gave me a couple recipes to write down and went on his way.

his original plan was to give it to me for valentines day

since he figured i'd be bummed out.

i am too blessed.

he was an accomplished machinist & tinkered with things

until his last days, even with the very limited vision that

he had left.

he oil painted for most of his life & really longed to see well

so he could paint again.

i'm grateful to have taken some shots in his basement where

i spent many days as a young girl watching him work and trying

to imitate him.

the bull never wins

i thought it would be awesome to go to a bullfight in mexico. i hadn't thought it through. i guess i just didn't realize what the whole thing was about. i stayed for one round and cried the entire time.

when the bull "lost" my boyfriend grabbed my head so i wouldn't look.

it was a defining moment, cried and took photos for the duration i was there.
